Marlin Electric Personal Hydrofoil Concept

Designed by Niklas Wejedal, Marlin is an electric personal hydrofoil features similar propulsion system as oscillating movement of Marlin's tail, yeah, you can tell that's where they got the name for this concept. Marlin's hull was inspired by Mach2 Foiling Moth of McDougall McConaghy boats which are already in production. Keeping this in mind, the company wants to use them as basic to create an electric hydrofoil.

Marlin is equipped with new propulsion system, instead of using a propeller, it uses Bio-Mechanic propulsion system invented by Brice Thouret. This personal watercraft would be a quiet one, it doesn't emit any CO2 and takes advantage of sun/win energy to recharge its battery at the dock. Its 15kW electric motor powers oscillating propulsion system (OPS) behind the pilot while the ion-lithium batteries inside this vehicle supplies the power needed for other electrical equipment. There's also onboard charge adaptor to allow rider to charge Marlin at the dock with an AC cord.

The shape of Marlin resembles a kayak, long and narrow to reduce friction on the water. The hydrofoil system works just like existing hydrofoils, there's a small pilot rod at the bow that controls the angle of frontal foil. When this craft in water, the frontal foil would be angled to create an upward movement, as it gains speed, the boat would start to lift out of the water.
